Channel Letter Signs

Channel letters are typically individually constructed, illuminated dimensional letters. Here at Midwest we custom manufacture each set and can offer infinite style and color possibilities. Our letter backs are water-jet cut from #3003 aluminum sheet and have 4.5” deep returns. The returns are welded to the backs and all seams are caulked. The acrylic faces are wrapped with 1” Jewelite trim cap and screwed to the returns. Letters can be mounted individually to a wall or on a raceway. Illumination usually comes from hand-crafted neon tubes made right here in our own neon plant but new LED systems are also available.

In the interest of safety, the National Electric Code and Underwriters Laboratory require that any new signs containing neon use ground-fault protected(GFI) neon transformers. For these to work properly transformers need their electrical circuit to have a grounding conductor. Most new buildings have these already. These transformers also require a dedicated common wire so that other devices, like a refrigerator turning “on”, on the same wire circuit does not turn your GFI transformers “off.” If your building is not wired properly we recommend you have it corrected, so that your sign will work reliably and your warranty is fully realized.
